We have a Morepork (a New Zealand native owl) living in the trunk of a tree above the waterfall
on our property. It is rare to see one as they are night birds and silent fliers. Every 2nd year one moves into the old tree and we excitedly watch the mother lay her eggs,
hatch them and see the babies grow.
This magic experience is such a gift from Jesus!
I needed some time alone to pray this weekend and went as usual to my favorite place. Passing the nest on my way, I asked God to show me something wonderful that would make
my heart sob for more of Him.
Pouring my heart out to Him and listening was nourishing, but it wasn’t until I walked back
up and passed the Morepork mother again that I suddenly knew what He was saying.
Leaning out against the tree to gaze at the beautiful
mysterious bird, I noticed her eyes were squinting; I was reminded she could not see much in the light. She had been gifted with the ability to maneuver and live fully in the darkness.
God has given us everything we need to see in this world. He has blessed us with more than enough clues to navigate the many branches and dangers of the night!
I stood in awe of God’s foresight for our plight, watching the small owl trying to gauge my trustworthiness. We do this with God too. The small but dazzling glimpses we see of Him are sometimes frightening from our dimmed sight.
There is a reason we could not handle His awesomeness, and it is good.
God has us, in season, warming the eggs of life that are to reflect His glory through His design.
There is LIFE growing out from some of our actions! Can you believe the honor?! We are all part of His design, and it is perfect.
Know
today that He is in control and has blessed you beyond your wildest dreams. I pray He will open our eyes to those blessings just a slant more today. And THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH READERS for your magnificent encouragement to fight for others freedom through this
website and Twitter! We will never know on this earth just how many ‘babies’ will be hatched through our small actions, even in the resting times.
