We can get to a place through dedication, where the longer and harder the run for God, the greater and lasting the high we receive afterwards. Ask my husband!
I have always loved exercise and God has used it to steady me through the hard times,
but to my husband’s delight I can now run 10km (a full hour run) and still have energy for my day! The high afterwards makes me so funny. I wish you could see his nodding. As a doctor, and longtime runner, he knows the benefit of the grind.
Babies
and all that wonderful stuff they imply, had sifted my focus over the years, but I am glad now I chipped away at remaining fit. It is a lifetime habit, and one I had to visualize myself living through as I age.
Put in the practice of learning the things
of God and the grind will pay off with bountiful rushes of endorphins to reward your effort. This is the delight of the LORD! It will overcome you at times, and leave you emotional messes of deep joy, even when it hurts so hard you think you can feel no more.
He will NEVER let someone sit under oppression or depression or spiritual heaviness to the point of death. Even in that place He graces us with an underlying joy which is not to be confused with delight.
Furthermore, you will look fit and be taken seriously
as a runner with every added effort you dedicate to Him.
“And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you.” Psalms 39:7
Wait out those dark times on the treadmill of life, by taking step after step into God’s words and
purpose. When you are overcome, wait still. His hope has always kept you. I like to look back and smile at what I have run from!
He is the energy giver, and you can learn to praise Him for even the most empty and confusing times when you are too tired
from life to step into Him.
Cling to Him and beg for more faith. I don’t know you, but I pray for you, reader.
