Tonight I was reading Timothy 1, and got stopped at the words 'ashamed of my chains.'
Paul was praising a colleage because this man sought him out and was not ashamed of Paul's chains.
I came to thinking about how we are so often ashamed
of our own chains, but also ashamed of each other's. If I was really honest, I must have had plenty of times where because of someone's flaws, or inabilities, or 'past' - even addictions, attitudes, and leanings - where I had let that stop me from getting
to know them, or letting them in my heart. Even if I knew they had much fruit to show in their life.
That is a chain on me in itself.
We all have chains, but we are given the power to be set free of each. Some chains may be of belief. Some may
be our haunting past. Others may have chains of addiction. Most have roots in fear.
What I am trying to say is that if we do not seek out those other believers to encourage as they sit under their chains, I fear we may always be held in one ourself.
Imagine what God could use us for without anything holding us back...
So I am determined to be open about my chains. I have shared a little about my past on this site. I have been blessed enough to have people reach out to encourage me.
you have chains, be encouraged. Thank God for them because without knowledge of their crippling power we would not need Him so much. They do not need to be forever holding you. Chains are weak under a strong pair of pliers. Let God be the cutter.
Look up some faith texts and soak them into you. Memorise some of them. Look at others who have had their chains broken and be bold to seek it for yourself.
Look for the differences in their lives.
If you have chains that you have prayed for
release from, then have recieved no clear answer... those chains will be for your good somehow. Praise Him for them as they will enable you to be more effective for HIM!!
For those who have chains that are permanent, i.e., disabilities,
or hardships to constantly live in - use them to allow God to make you awesomely strong! It is only us who have chains and know them, who can showcase God's cutting strength to the fullest. This does not mean He will fix our problems, but He will use what
binds us to bind Him to us. Lean in on Him and seek His face.
Imagine what it would be like to look the God of glory in the eyes, then let your weeping be of joy that He cares!
Strive to know Him more.
Fight for your relationship.
Determine to be His NO MATTER WHAT.
Foresee different situations and plan your God responses in them so you will have a fall back if they occur. Prepare yourself - we are in battle. STEP UP WARRIORS AND LIVE!!!!!
I don't know how I will sleep
now - I am too fired up. Thankyou God for everything! The good and the bad!!
